Saxophonist and flautist Peter Smith is an accomplished musician, bandleader, composer and educator of too many years experience including tours and airplay in Canada, the US, Europe, and Mexico.
He has performed and recorded in diverse styles with many artists but his first love is jazz and improvised music. His CD releases of the 2000s (Peter Smith Quartet) were primarily live or live in the studio and can be heard on Toronto’s JazzFM radio station, the CBC and Gem, as well as online.
Peter regularly hosts jams (in the Garaj Mahal!) where different arrangements and new compositions are explored with the awe-inspiring help of some of Canada’s best musicians.

Geoff Chapman, ‘Toronto Star’
“Peter Smith’s Quartet deserves to be listened to…”
Ted O’Reilly, ‘Whole Note’
“The quartet keeps the music stirring gently… the harmonic scope of jazz gets enough of its due to make this worthy of attention.”
Jerry D’Souza, ‘All About Jazz’
“This is honest music, honestly performed and well appreciated in local theaters, clubs and schools.”
Peter Westbrook, ‘JazzReviews.com’
“The Peter Smith Quartet‘s Yule Like This is a compelling holiday album that will truly please jazz lovers, even those who are mildly phobic around seasonal music. The music is joyful, but not raucous. Just fantastic!”
